Although things are a bit crazy around here, I still took the time to get some food ready this weekend so that I could make sure to eat yummy, tasty, and healthy meals to keep my energy and health up this week.
I chopped up tons of veggies for lunches and snacks and I also made some black bean burgers. All that I had to do was cook up the burgers, roast up some sweet potato and Voila!! a delicious and healthy meal was ready to go.
Now, let’s talk wedding…
These past couple of weeks have been flying by as my head is wrapped up with wedding details such as getting items printed, stuffing welcome bags, planning out the seating chart, and making sure the timeline is perfect that I have had to take a step back and think about what this upcoming weekend is REALLY about…
Our Marriage!!
Brian and I have had a couple of mini pep-talks with each other about how we will act on the actual wedding day. There are so many last minute details going into this event, that we don’t want to lose sight of what is truly important to us.
These little pep-talks as well as the Tobit retreat have helped me to put things into perspective. Brian and I have agreed that no matter what happens on our wedding day it will be perfect because of the reason we are celebrating the day in the first place.
Because I love making lists and I try my best to plan for everything in advance, I thought it would be a good idea to share the things that I am most looking forward to and the moments that I want to remember on my wedding day.
Mom, Brenna, and I will be spending the pre-wedding night together and I couldn’t be more excited. It will be just mom and the girls for one last night before I get married. My mom sister and I are all close, but we don’t get to spend as much time together as we would like. This will be the perfect way to start this special day.
I feel that this special time in the morning when it is “just the girls” will really set the tone for the day. Each of my bridesmaids has made an impact on my life and is truly special to me. I can’t wait to share this day with them!
We are all so excited about the wedding, including my dad. He hasn’t been as vocal about his excitement as me simply because of his personality, but he has helped find specific wedding details and complete special wedding tasks that truly mean a lot to me. I need to remember to slow down and cherish this walk.
Brian and I will be taking pictures before the wedding ceremony, so it won’t be a surprise when I walk down the aisle BUT we are staging a first look…I couldn’t be more excited to see Brian on our wedding day!
I have recently entered the Catholic faith, and I am learning and growing in my religion every single day. I am truly looking forward to this special ceremony that will link Brian and I together as one.
My sister and brother have great personalities and are not afraid to get in front of a crowd. I know that whatever they say will be heartfelt, but I am waiting to see if they throw any humor into the mix!
Not sure if I will be able to hold the tears back for this one!!!
I can’t wait to see all of our friends from various points in our life. There are several people visiting from out of town for our special day and I can’t wait to celebrate with them all!
My grandparents are often traveling, my aunt lives in Alaska, and the rest of my family is scattered throughout the US. I can’t wait to see them all soon!
That is quite the lengthy list and there are so many more things that I could add to it. Feel free to chime in and add some advice:

[…] in the Kitchen: Things to Remember on My Wedding Day — What it is all […]
Happy wedding day! Have a wonderful day! My advice is, enjoy every moment. Take the time to eat your dinner, eat dessert, dance all night. It’s polite to walk around and thank everyone, but you don’t need to spend your entire night mingling at the tables. We were able to walk around to greet tables between dinner and dessert, and then we had the rest of the night to enjoy ourselves without feeling pressured to mingle!
Thanks for the advice!!! Brian and I made sure to make time to mingle and we danced the WHOLE night long. Overall it was a blast!!!
1. Enjoy every moment of it. Take it easy and from the moment you wake up, don’t fuss. Everything will happen regardless of insignificant details, you might as well have a good time.
2. Right after the ceremony, at the reception, we were greeting all the guests, and my husband’s grandma took my face in her hands and kissed me and welcomed me into the family.
I hope your wedding is all that you hoped it’ll be and much more!
You were so right!! It ALL worked out and was amazing 🙂
I’m so glad! Have awesome time on your honeymoon 🙂
Thanks you Anne!!!
Ah! my gosh, this is so exciting! I am not married, haha, so I don’t have any advice, but I certainly cannot wait to follow how it all goes!!
Thanks Carrie. I can’t wait to share more details with you all!
First off… congrats on your upcoming wedding!!
Second, here is my advice: 1) I, too, am a huge planner but no matter how much you plan, something(s) will not go according to plan. Just let them roll off your back and remember that it will be a good/funny story to tell later down the road. 2) The day goes by super fast so remind yourself to consciously stop what you’re doing at different times during the day and take it all in. 3) I’m a huge picture lover so I gave my camera to a person who I was close to but who wasn’t in the wedding and had them take a bunch of pics throughout the ceremony and reception. That way you’ll have something to look at right away after the wedding rather than having to wait for the professional pics or for the pics off of friends’ and family members’ cameras.
Have a great time and again, congrats!!! 🙂
Amanda, thank you so much for the advice!! I love pictures as well, so giving my camera to someone not necessarily in the wedding is a GREAT idea!! I will definitely have to do that 🙂
Thanks so much! I can’t wait to share the big day with you!
Good luck as you prepare this week! Looking back, I think the two things I wish I had known were: 1) no matter how much you try, things will not go as planned and you just have to roll with it; 2) don’t get caught up in the looks. I spent all of this time on the little details and having a Knot-worthy day but it all gets thrown out. Wait. There’s a third. Take time to eat the cake. I was so busy mingling that by the time I went back to head table to eat my piece, the caterers had tossed it.
Thanks for the tips Kim!!!! I really appreciate it and when it comes down to it, it WILL be perfect because Brian and I are getting married and that is all that counts 🙂
