What an amazing and perfect weekend!
Sunday, my mom, sister and grandma hosted my bridal shower in Fort Wayne, IN which is where I grew up.
Mom and Grandma worked hard to have the house all set-up and decorated before I arrived on Saturday afternoon to spend a little extra time with them. My mom spent a lot of time on the little details, and even found fabric that was the exact color of our bridesmaid dresses. Let me tell you, it is not an easy color to find!
On Sunday morning, Mom and Grandma put the finishing touches on the appetizers that were being served as everything else was all ready for all of our guests to arrive.
The food was delicious and included a wide variety of my favorite appetizer and snacky-type foods such as veggie pizza, veggies and dip, homemade crackers with salmon dip, and a Greek hummus dip. It was all delicious.
One of my absolute favorite items on the spread were the homemade cinnamon roasted almonds and pecans. These little gems are addicting and I found myself going back to the bowl for seconds and thirds!
Mom is planning on making me a wedding quilt, and she had each of the guests write some words of wisdom on a quilt square to be added to the finished product.
I absolutely loved reading what everyone had to say and cannot wait to see it all pieced together.
After everyone had written their advice and had a snack, it was time to play some games!
Mom had contacted Brian ahead of time and asked him to answer a series of questions about himself. I had to answer the questions and guess what his answer was. If I got the questions right, everyone kindly clapped and we moved on to the next question, but if I got the question wrong…I had to put a piece of gum in my mouth!
Brian and I know each other pretty well, but I nearly had an entire pack of gum in my mouth by the end!
I could barely talk at the end because the wad of gum was so huge!
And that would be the wad of gum!
After the little quiz about Brian, it was time to open some gifts.
I absolutely LOVED everything that I received and cannot believe how generous and thoughtful my friends and family were to Brian and I. I cannot say thank you enough!
My mom LOVES making homemade presents, and she made a little veil and attached it to a Bic Band for me to wear during the race that Brian and I are running the day before our wedding. She also got Brian a little top hat to wear 🙂
After presents, it was time for one final game. Mom had a little wedding story that she read aloud. There were 4 gift bags for us to pass around the room. Every time my mom said “right” or “left” in the story, we had to pass the present that direction. It was very fun, as she often followed the word “right” with the word “left” immediately so we were going back and forth! It was fun to see where the gifts finally ended up.
The bridesmaids from Fort Wayne were all in attendance 🙂
I was so happy to see everyone that was able to come and spend time with them. I was sad to say goodbye to everyone but I was so thankful for the love that I felt from everyone at my shower that afternoon.
Brian’s Mom and Grandma were able to come up from Indianapolis.
My sister-in-law and niece were able to come from Michigan.
At the end of the afternoon, everyone headed their separate ways with a little dish scrubber and kitchen soap to remember the day.
Thank you all so much for celebrating my upcoming wedding and making the day truly special!
