Brian and I had our special date night this past Friday.
This year, Brian’s Christmas gift was 12 pre-planned and pre-paid dates. There is a special envelope for each month with the details of the date inside, and at the beginning of each month we open the envelope together to find out what our date is going to be. You can read more about our rock climbing date in January or our shopping/dinner making adventure in February by clicking the links!
March’s date was more of a traditional date, but still super fun! We were going to walk around downtown for a bit and then grab frozen yogurt at Yogulatte, which is a serve-yourself frozen yogurt shop that is literally a four minute walk from our place…dangerous!
We also tagged a special dinner onto the date as well!
Dinner was at a delicious restaurant called Mesh. Mesh is located in a cultural district of downtown Indianapolis, Mass Ave. This neighborhood has a lot of local art shops, live theater, and tasty restaurants…Mesh definitely fits right in!
The entire atmosphere of Mesh is very laid back and modern. Brian and I both loved the decor, as it really set the mood for our dinner.
Since we were both very hungry, we started our meal with an appetizer of pomme frites. These french fries were warm, crisp, and completely delicious! It’s not a food choice that I order often, but when I do, I make sure that I enjoy every bite!
For my main meal I ordered the lobster bisque, which was absolutely to die for! It was the perfect blend of warm and creamy and had a little bit of a kick to the flavor. It was amazingly delicious, and I would definitely order it again.
I also ordered the Pickled Beet Salad. I knew that I wanted to have soup and salad for dinner, but when it came to choosing the salad portion of the meal I was torn between several options on the menu. Our waitress suggested the pickled beets, and I was in the mood to try something new so I gave it a shot. It was so worth the risk! The salad was comprised of goat cheese, pistachios, pickled beets, watercress, and horseradish creme. It was a rich and unique combo, and I am so glad that I stepped out of the box to try it.
Brian’s meal was also amazingly delicious. He ordered the crab cakes, which were absolutely huge and absolutely delicious.
After dinner, we walked around for a bit to let our meals settle in our tummies before heading over to get our frozen yogurt.
My combination included cheesecake and strawberry fro yo topped with roasted almonds, peanuts, chocolate chips, and a little bit of cookie dough 🙂 Yum!
Another successful date if you ask me!
