Lately, I’ve been visiting various neighborhood coffee shops pretty frequently. While it’s nice to get out of the house to have a change of scenery and clear my mind a bit, coffee shop drinks are definitely pricey and it takes a bit of time to go and get the drink. With the goal of saving time and a little bit of money, I created this Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte as a little mid morning pick-me-up.
Ingredients in Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte
Matcha: Matcha contains a ton of antioxidants. Because of the way it is grown and because matcha uses the entire leaf, it has more caffeine and antioxidants than green tea . The high dose of antioxidants in matcha may help with liver health, brain function, cancer prevention, heart health, and a decrease in chronic diseases.
Maple syrup: Maple syrup is used as a natural sweetener in this recipe. Just 1/2 a teaspoon is blended with the match and milk of choice, but it is the perfect amount for this delicious iced latte.
Milk: You can use any kind of milk you want here! We typically have plant-based milks on hand like soy milk or oat milk, but any milk will work.
Strawberries: Strawberries add a sweetness and fruitiness to this drink. They are rich in vitamin C and fiber and the perfect addition to matcha.
Coconut sugar: Coconut sugar is a sweetener that is still sugar (as the name suggests). There is a small dose of some minerals and antioxidants in coconut sugar, and it has a richer flavor that white sugar.
How to Make Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte
I don’t have a matcha whisk, so I start by blending the matcha, maple and milk of choice in a blender until everything is completely combined and a little frothy. While the blender is going, I smash the strawberries with the coconut sugar using a muddler. Fill the cup of strawberries and sugar with ice, then pour the blended matcha over the top. Stir and enjoy!

If you don’t have coconut sugar, you can use regular sugar.
I love this Nativa Matcha(affiliate link), but I haven’t tried many other brands to give a true comparison.
The strawberries need to be roughly chopped. Chopping them a little makes them easier to smash.
I like to use a 2 cup mason jar and a ton of ice when making this recipe.
