I recently found these silicone reusable pouches and instantly fell in love with how easy it was to fill them and clean them. My girls fell in love with the fun and tasty homemade pouches I started making for snacks.
There really are endless options when it comes to how you want to make your homemade toddler pouches, but the formula I am going to share here is one that works really well!
While I am sharing a specific recipe for these pouches, you could make almost any flavor of smoothie and pour it into the pouch for a delicious portable snack.
When filling these pouches I like to make sure I include fat, fiber and protein to help the girls stay full and satisfied after snack time. These ingredients below help to do just that!
Ingredients in Homemade Toddler Pouches
Plain Greek yogurt Greek yogurt has about 20g of protein in 1 cup! It’s also a good source of calcium, vitamin B12, and selenium among other nutrients. Because it is thick and creamy, it has the perfect texture for the base of these pouches.
Unsweetened applesauce Applesauce adds to the sweetness of these pouches without adding extra sugar.
Flax meal (ground flax seeds) Flax meal or ground flax seeds are high in fiber and fat, specifically omega 3 fatty acids. These are great to mix into all kinds of recipes your children enjoy.
Vanilla extract Vanilla extract adds a warmth and sweetness to the pouches without added sugar.
Strawberries Strawberries contain fiber and vitamin C, and also taste delicious!
Banana I love adding ripe bananas for more sweetness (my girls love sweet!), while also adding micronutrient benefits like potassium, magnesium, and fiber.
How to Make Homemade Toddler Pouches
Simply puree all ingredients in the blender! I like to use one of these funnels to minimize mess while filling the pouches.
Tips for Making Homemade Toddler Pouches
You could make any kind of smoothie or puree and put it into these pouches. I love that the options are truly endless! If you have littles that like to help in the kitchen, they could easily help dump ingredients in the blender. Marie and Claire love to help in the kitchen, especially if I am making something for them!

How do you deal with keeping them from spoiling without having them too cold from the fridge?
My girls like them cold in the fridge, so we just keep them in there 🙂 They must be refrigerated to stay food safe.
