This year, we have traveled quite a bit with the girls. We have flown to Florida twice, and visited friends in Baltimore (all in the past 3 months!). Now that we’ve traveled with the girls a few times, we feel like we have a pretty good handle on how to keep them happy and entertained during a long travel day, and that is to give them all the snacks!
Giving the girls ample snacks has really been the best thing we have done while traveling to keep everyone as calm as possible. There are a few healthy travel snacks we have found that the girls love and they don’t make a huge mess. There are also a few supplies (like this adorable SNACK bag) that have helped us out too!
These are items that work well when on the go and do not need to be refrigerated.
Amara Smoothie Melts – The girls love these and the pouch has a zipper top, making it easy to seal it up when your child is done snacking.
Dino Bars – I love these because the edible paper makes them less messy than other snack bars.
Raisins
Cheese crisp crackers like Whisps or Parm Crisps
Harvest Snaps pea crisps
Applesauce pouches – I have found that many pouches are bigger than the TSA required 3.4 oz, but the applesauce pouches are usually under that size and will successfully get through security.
Freeze dried fruit like Crispy Green
Clementines
Bananas
Simple Mills almond flour crackers – these come in snack pack size
Mini Triscuit crackers – these are small enough to fit inside the snack spinner listed above.
TIP: Avoid whole nuts and popcorn until over age 4 to reduce the risk of choking.
