Good morning!
Yesterday was a FUN day of workouts for me. Lots of new things tried 🙂
I started the morning by logging 3 miles on the treadmill. Honestly, I HATE running on the treadmill. I was supposed to run 4 miles according to my half marathon training schedule, but I just wasn’t feeling it. No matter the distance I run on the treadmill, it always feels like eternity.
That being said, I wanted to figure out a way to pass the time, and for some reason I thought reading my latest book “It All Starts with Food” would be a good idea…
Well, shockingly, reading on the treadmill WAS a good idea. For me at least. It made the 3 miles SPEED by, and I got some good, quality reading in. Win, win. I don’t think I could go any faster than an 8:30 pace, so speed work wouldn’t quite work while reading, but for an easy and relatively short run I am definitely going to continue bringing reading material.
Fun workout #2: Turbo Kick
Have you tried it?
I have heard so many things about this program and I know that the amazing Chalene Johnson is in several of the Turbo Kick DVDs you can do at home, but I had never ever tried it…until last night.
Talk about a fun and high energy workout! Lots of punching, kicking, a little dancing, and even some interval work in the middle and towards the end of the workout. A super sweaty, fun workout. I feel like we all left the class feeling sweaty, accomplished, and energized. Despite the fact that this workout requires a lot of energy, I feel like we were all just feeding off of Maria’s peppiness which carried us through the workout. After class, the room was just buzzing!
Not only was it a great workout, but it was taught by a fellow Indianapolis health leader and blogger…Maria Romaine!
And yes, that is her actual last name…Romaine “like the lettuce.” Cute, isn’t it!?
Maria and I connected recently through facebook because she works with Brian’s brother (my brother in law) during her day job. I am so glad I got to meet her in real life, take one of her awesome classes, and try a new workout. All in all it was a very fun night.
Based on this post, here are a few similar ones you should check out.

no I haven’t tried this, but it sounds this is great with the helps of these DVD workout, you can even do it at home..
On Monday night, I tried out a pure barre class in Carmel. I loved it and plan on attending again. I’d like to try turbokick or some of the other classes on her schedule. How much do they cost and how do we sign up?
Oh! I love barre classes!! I will have to check that studio out! I tried it out at the Y downtown, but I know she also teaches at the Y in Fishers and at reforming indy. I think her class schedule is at http://www.mariaromaine.com 🙂
I did TurboFire (the home program) to get in better shape before my wedding a couple years ago and LOVED it. Like seriously obsessed. It helps that I love kickboxing, dance, and HIIT and TurboFire is basically all of the above. I’m so glad you liked the class version. 🙂
I can imagine this would be a fun home workout DVD!! I really like the HIIT part 🙂
Maria ROCKS!!! And Turbo Fire is one of my favorites – well really anything Chalene 🙂 but Maria is an awesome instructor!
She told me you knew her!!! SMALL WORLD! 🙂
Loved having you chica! You had the best smile and energy and am excited to connect soon before youre no longer in these necks of the woods <3
YES!! We will get together again 🙂
I haven’t tried any new workouts lately – well I mean I’ve done different strength workouts, but not like DVDS or anything like that.
