Our First Weekend as Denver-Ites!

Morning and happy Monday!

This was our first weekend as Denver residents, and if all weekends are even half as great as this weekend I think we are in store for an amazing time here in Denver.

Friday night, we hit up Park Tavern for happy hour with Brian’s parents and our Denver family.

Park Tavern - Denver Family

Happy hour is something we don’t have in Indianapolis, so we had a great time enjoying 2 for 1 drinks 🙂

Saturday morning, we went to a cute little breakfast/coffee place called Under the Umbrella for coffee and breakfast.

They made a delicious almond milk latte and the atmosphere was casual and very cute.  The neighborhood this little eatery is located in is very close to Brian and I, but we aren’t sure which neighborhood it is.  There are so many different, fun neighborhoods here in Denver it’s hard to keep track of them all!

After breakfast, we walked around the area and popped into some of the shops.

After we were done browsing and window shopping, it was time to take Brian’s parent’s to the airport.  They spent the entire week with us and really helped us get our apartment in shape in record time.  We can’t thank them enough for spending so much time with us here in Denver!

Saturday night, Brian and I ran the Neon Dash 5k, our first official Denver race! More details on that later 🙂

Sunday morning, we got up early for our first-ever Colorado hike!

This hike was up at the Red Rocks, which is where a ton of concerts are played, yoga is practiced, and fitness classes are held.  There was actually a boot camp style class going on while we were starting our hike!

Liz (part of our Denver family!) found this hike through Day Hikes Near Denver.

Unfortunately, a good portion of the trail was closed and we had to take a detour on the road.  Overall though, I would still say it was a good hike!  It was fun, a great way to be in the outdoors, and it was a little adventure 🙂  I can’t wait to do it again!

After meeting up with some people in Brian’s orthodontics program, it was time for dinner.

Even though I love grilled food, I have never really grilled all that much on my own.  When Brian’s parents were here, I had him show me a thing or two on the grill and now I think I’m addicted!

We grilled sweet potato, asparagus, and zucchini with some cod for dinner last night.

It was all absolutely delicious and so easy to make! We are going to be grilling a LOT.

After dinner, we watched the Food Network and had a couple of friends stop by for dessert and wine.

Even though Brian and I still don’t have a routine and aren’t on a real schedule, I tried to do some meal planning this week.

Dinners this week:

For workouts this week, Brian and I are going to try out CorePower Yoga, do a bit of running, and maybe try some group fitness classes.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Question of the Day:

  • Did you do any planning for the week?  What’s on your meal or fitness plan?
