Last Christmas, I did something out-of-the-box for Brian’s Christmas gift.
2013 was a pretty big and busy year for Brian and I, and I knew I wanted to make sure we still had time for “us” as we ended our engagement and went into our first year of marriage.
I preplanned and prepaid 12 monthly date nights for us to enjoy throughout the year.
Each month Brian and I would get together to open that month’s date night envelope to see what our next date would be.
It was so fun to have a little surprise each month!
Ever since I posted about our January Date Night, that post has been one of the top posts on the blog, one of the top pins from my pinterest boards, and I have received several e-mails asking about the details of the other dates. Β That being said, I have decided to compile all the dates into one post for your convenience π
Indoor Rock Climbing at Climb Time Indy
We each received $20 to purchase a gift for each other and we cooked dinner together.
Walk around downtown Indianapolis and grab frozen yogurt at Yogulatte.
We were planning on volunteering to walk dogs from the animal shelter, but unfortunately this date did not pan out.
This date actually got changed at the last minute because of our crazy schedules at this point in the year. Β Even still, we carved out time for more fro yo and a movie at home π
We completed our May Date of exploring the Go Ape High Ropes Course in August.
Our honeymoon π
Apple picking at Tuttle Orchards
Lunch at one of our favorite local cafes, Cafe Patachou.
We cooked dinner together again! Β This time, Brian was in charge of the main meal, and I was in charge of dessert.
Christmas Lights at the Indianapolis Zoo
So there you have it! Β Our year full of dates π
Based on this post, here are a few similar ones you should check out.

Love this idea! You look beautiful in the picture at the orchard! Sunflowers are my favorite.
I actually borrowed this idea from you for my boyfriend’s gift this year! I can’t wait to for him to open it on Christmas. I used Groupon and Livingsocial to help me pre-pay for some of the other dates, but the other ones I will just pay for when we do them. Thanks for your inspiration! π
Here’s what I picked:
January: Ice Skating
February: Drinks, appetizers and games at Ping Pong bar here in Los Angeles
March: Happy Hour at a fancy bar, the Edison, in downtown LA
April: Go to the LA Zoo
May: Go to an indoor trampolining facility
June: Kayaking in Marina del Rey
July: Snorkeling at La Jolla Cove in San Diego
August: Go Hydrobiking in Long Beach
September: Go to the movies and dinner – he can pick any movie he wants!
October: Hiking and a picnic in Malibu
November: Go Curling (a funny Olympic sport we have wanted to try!)
December: Bake and decorate Christmas cookies together
So fun!!!!! You will absolutely love the memories you make together π

You should totally do it for Kyle π
OH π because I know Dan doesn’t read your blog ( I promise I try to get him to!) I know he won’t see…but I totally am ‘borrowing/stealing’ your idea…but I wrapped all twelve ideas in various shape boxes..told him I spent no money (I didn’t pre pay ours), and that it was only full of air and paper π he is CLUELESS!!!
YAY!!! Love the box idea….next time I will do that for Brian to throw him off π
