Five Things Friday 2.12.2016

It’s officially Friday, which means it’s time for a little Five Things Friday πŸ™‚

I love Five Things Friday because I get to recap the odds and ends of my week with you AND I feel like I get to know you guys a little bit more with the things you share about your week and weekend in the comment section. Β So please feel free to share away!!

This week has been kind of crazy for me considering Monday I was sick and actually had to take a sick day. Β I had a fever, body aches, no appetite, upset tummy…the works and while I did get a bit of school work done I spent most of the day lying on the couch. Β Brian said that when he got home from school in the evening and I was still laying on the couch covered in blankets he knew I was NOT feeling like myself. Β I rarely take the time to be cozy and lay around like that, so while the break was nice it made the rest of my week pretty busy.

Luckily, I was still able to complete all my school work so that I am ready to welcome Brian’s mom this morning at the airport for a fun-filled weekend! Β I realize it’s also Valentine’s Day, but Brian and I don’t really have any plans :/ and I’m ok with that!

Anyways….have a great weekend and happy Valentine’s (or Galentine’s!) Day πŸ™‚

Five Things Friday from Treble in the Kitchen

Five Things I Ate:

This is such a satisfying, simple, and tasty breakfast. Β Especially after not feeling well, the warmth of this bowl really hit the spot.

  • A delicious smoothie bowl. Β I did a little recipe testing this week and conjured up this wonderful smoothie bowl. Β Seriously, it was kind of like dessert πŸ™‚ (I’ll be sharing the recipe soon!)

I am on a serious kombucha kick. Β If I feel like I need a little something, but I’m not quite hungry for a snack or a meal kombucha totally hits the spot πŸ™‚ Β I have been loving almost every flavor and brand I try, but I snagged a bottle of this stuff because it was from a local CO company!

I topped these with mashed banana, peanut butter, and cinnamon. Β Super filling and tasty.

  • A Huge Dinner Salad

Last night was a kind of clean-out-the-fridge night so we each enjoyed tasty salads loaded with everything. Β My salad had: Β romaine, cucumber, carrots, bell pepper, sauerkraut, chicken, hard boiled egg, celery, broccoli, dijon, a touch of olive oil, and red wine vinegar. Β So good!

Five Workouts I Did:

Considering I was sick on Monday, I haven’t really done that many workouts this week. Β I took Monday and Tuesday off completely but got back on track on Wednesday…so here is a look at what I did!

  • Indoor cycling
  • Total Strength group fitness class
  • Tabata class (this morning)
  • Hoping to get a couple of runs in with Bernie
  • Hoping to follow up those runs with a little ab work

Five Things Making Me Happy:

  • Bernie at the dog park….

Last Saturday, Brian, Kate and I took Bernie and Cooper to Elk Meadow in Evergreen. Β There is a huge open space for dogs and lots of ground to cover so it’s great for getting out a bit of vizsla and labradoodle energy.

The boys just had a blast, but I think it is so funny looking at the photos because Bernie is SO serious-looking and Cooper just looks like he is having the time of his life. HA!

Real Houses of IG Instagram

While Brian and I are not shopping for a house, someday we will move on from apartment living. Β We love looking at this instagram account for beautiful home-decor inspiration. Β Everything is so pretty!

  • Feeling better! I do not get sick often, so I kind of forget what it’s like to not feel well. Β I am SO thankful that I feel better πŸ™‚
  • Tom Khai Gai Thai Soup from Against All Grain

Against All Grain Soup

I received a TON of cook books this Christmas, one of them being the Against All Grain cook book. Β Brian and I have been cooking up lots of new recipes on the weekends, and last weekend we cooked up this soup. Β It used so many flavors and spices that were unfamiliar to our kitchen and tastebuds but it was absolutely WONDERFUL!! We highly recommend trying this recipe out πŸ™‚

  • Brian’s Mom is visiting!

Denver Irish Snug

She came this same weekend last year and met Bernie for the first time. Β Can you believe how little he was?! We are looking forward to a fun weekend in Denver with her πŸ™‚
